There is great effort to “go green” and reduce carbon footprints (pollution impacts), Northborough is no exception. Fall 2007 Joseph McNamara wrote to the town administration suggesting the consideration of wind power in town. November of 2008, a committee was formed to evaluate sites and feasibility of locating wind turbines in Northborough. A panel of 14 citizens (including advisors) are empowered to apply for state grants, request bids, select contractors for the site selection, feasibility study and construction. The selected 6 potential sites (3 sites have been shelved and will not be considered at this time) and submitted an application for a state grant for site selection and will submitted additional applications for grants for the design and construction.
