The Northborough Tea Party (NTP) has scheduled its second meeting for Monday, November 2nd , 7:00-8:25 p.m. at the Northborough Free Library, and an “early bird” networking opportunity at 6:45-7:00 p.m. The NTP’s mission, which is entirely voluntary and non-partisan, is to organize and mobilize citizens who are concerned with the Federal Government’s uncontrolled spending, which will inevitably destroy future generations’ standard of living.  According to Mike Long, a co-founder of the NTP, “Most of us have no sense of the damage our government is doing to us with its outrageous spending. The GAO is projecting that for this fiscal year alone, our Federal government will spend $1.7 TRILLION more than they receive in taxes.”

“Most of us have no sense of how large a trillion is. Put into perspective, if we started our stopwatch and ticked off one trillion seconds, it would take 31,800 YEARS to do so, or 54,000 years for 1.7 trillion seconds. It’s mind-boggling to think about the size of current deficits and our accumulating debt. No wonder we should be concerned.” The November 2nd meeting is open to all Northborough residents, as well as residents of surrounding communities. The press is also invited.
