In Monday’s Board of Selectmen’s meeting, the board approved a Statement of Interest to be submitted to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) in application for renovations to the Lincoln Street School. The MSBA assists municipalities with the design, construction, renovation and repair of public schools.School Superintendent Charles Gobron and the school commitee selected Lincoln Street School as this year’s project submission, noting that districts from all over the state are applying to MSBA for collaboration and not all projects will be selected.
There is no obligation on the town’s part to do the project;2 a town meeting vote would be required to move forward. Should be project be accepted, MSBA assists with design and through grants could reimburse a percentage of the cost, perhaps up to 40 to 50% of the cost of the project.
