Boy Scouts of Troop 1 Northborough, the Trailblazers, will be creating a tree to participate in the Knox Trail Council Festival of Lights and Trees, a benefit to support the youth of Knox Trail Council. The tree, called Alice’s Tree for Alice Stapelfeld of Northborough, who donated funds to start the project, will be made of non-perishable food covered by green netting, lights, ribbons, and spangles. Alice’s tree will be judged along with others contributed by Scouts packs and troops, and by local businesses, and then auctioned off. After the auction, the other trees will be given to needy families in the name of the highest bidder. The contents of Alice’s tree, however, will be donated to the Northborough Food Pantry.
On Tuesday, December 8th from 7-8:30 p.m. at Church of the Nativity, 45 Howard Street, Northborough, MA , Troop 1 scouts will do trial tree assembly in preparation for final construction the evening of December 17th at the Festival of Lights and Trees.
The gala and judging portion of the Festival will be held on Friday December 18th from 7 to 9 p.m., and the tree-viewing portion will be on Saturday, December 19th from 12 to 8 p.m. Both are open to the public. Admission on Friday is $25 per couple and on Saturday is $2 per person. The Festival will be held at Nobscot Scout Reservation, 1 Nobscot Road, Sudbury , MA.
