Town food pantry assistance for those with low incomes or acute need, available for town residents and those with an affiliation with to a Northborough church. Open Wednesdays 9 to 10:30am and Thursdays 6:30-8:00pm. Recipients must bring a photo ID, proof of address or church affiliation, list of household members and income sources. Recipients receive 1 to 3 bags of food depending on family size.
The Pantry notes that need is up (700 bags distributed in the 1st quarter of this year, 795 bags the second quarter and 842 bags in the 3rd quarter) and indications are this trend will continue.
The Pantry is stocked by food drives by the 4-H, scouts, postal workers, schools, through the churches, Northborough Rotary Club, Worcester County Food Bank, St Rose of Lima’s community garden, Tougas and Barberians (to name a few groups) and by individuals. Even with all of this generosity, receipts are down. Items requested: paper goods, juice, cereal, coffee, tea, healthy snack foods and condiments. Donations can be left outside of the Pantry doors on the basement level of town hall during business hours.
