Women’s Club seeks Entries for Young Artist Contests

The Northborough Woman’s Club, through the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) of Massachusetts, is offering a “Young Artist Contest” for grades 1-12.  Art works should be matted only- no frames. They should be no larger than 18”x 24” including the mat.  All entries (application form and art work) must be submitted to the Northborough Woman’s Club by February 1, 2010.  Exhibition of first, second, and third place winners in each category will be on display at the annual Artist’s Tea at the GFWC Headquarters in Sudbury, on Sunday, March 21, 2010.  The 1^st, 2^nd, & 3^rd place winners in each category will receive gift certificates and / or citations from GFWC of Massachusetts.

The GFWC is also having  creative writing contests for school aged children from grades 1-12.   One is youth short story writing contest, in which the author writes a short story.  The story is limited to 2,000 words. One entry per author. Deadline for contest is to be postmarked by February 1, 2010 to the co-president of the Northborough Woman’s Club

The Youth Poetry Writing Contest is the other contest.  Poetry entries can be any style, with a minimum length of eight lines and a maximum length of 50 lines.  One entry per author.  Deadline for contest is to be postmarked by February 1, 2010 to the co-president of the Northborough Woman’s Club.
