I want to thank the many folks who have written me or commented on my photos. I thought I would occasionally add some information on the technical aspects of them. Like most avid photographers I chose one of several cameras to use, depending on conditions and what is needed to do the job. In this case I used:
-An Olympus E-510 digital single lens reflex camera with a 70-300mm (140-600mm 35mm equivalent) Olympus zoom lens. The photo was taken at 1/500th of a second at f6.3 at an ISO of 400. The 35mm equivalent focal length was 140mm. This Olympus camera has in-body image stabilization, which allows one to shoot at lower speeds and higher apertures to provide for good sharpness and depth of field with all Olympus and non-Olympus lenses. I have chosen Olympus cameras in large part because of high optical quality lenses this primarily optical company makes and the fact that many of their cameras are relatively small and light weight — something of importance to one, like me, who travels a great deal. Olympus also provides superb customer service when it is needed!
If you would like info on any of the other photos I have taken just drop me a note at ron.goodenow@gmail.com or make a request in the comment section as we go forward.
