The First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church (40 Church St.) has a very special weekend planned this coming weekend. Saturday, February 13, 6:00PM to 10:30PM, they will host a Concert Benefit for Haiti and Sunday they will host a special valentine’s day service which a special visiting soloist. All Donations for the Saturday concert will be sent to UUSC-UUA Haiti Relief. Organizations receiving UUSC-UUA funding include MPP (Papaye Peasant Movement), the Lambi Fund of Haiti, COZPAM (Platform of Community Organizations of the Port-au-Prince Metropolitan Zone) in Port-au-Prince and CROSE (Regional Coordination of Southeast Organizations) in Jacmel.
Sunday, February 14th 10:30AM to 11:30AM, the Church will be hosting a very special service of music, poetry, and worship, performed by Olga Rogach, and her friend, Jane Shivick, an acclaimed soprano.
Olga Rogach, the church’s music director, has received a Master of Music degree in piano performance from Russia’s famed St. Petersburg Conservatory which acknowledged her artistry with a special award for notable performances of Bach’s solo keyboard music. Ms. Rogach is the official pianist for the Bel Canto Vocal Scholarship Foundation, accompanist for the opera ensemble “Worcester Opera Works” and accompanist for Master Singers of Worcester. She has also been heard numerous times on WGBH Radio’s Classics in the Morning and Morning Pro Musica.
Jane Shivick has appeared as a soloist at Winner’s Concert-Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Museum of Fine Arts Concert, in Opera Providence’s world premiere of Enrico Garzilli’s Michelangelo to critical acclaim at the Providence Performing Arts Center, RI, Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, the Boston Civic Symphony, New Philharmonia Orchestra, Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra, Rhode Island Civic Chorale & Orchestra, Symphony Pro Musica, Heritage Chorale, Assabet Valley Mastersingers, the New World Chorale, and Opera Providence.
