The School Committees of the Towns of Northborough and Southborough, and the Northborough-Southborough Regional School District have issued an invitation for bids for the furnishing of school bus transportation and extracurricular transportation for a Base Contract Period of three years commencing by August, 2010, and ending by the last day of school, June, 2013, with two one-year contract extension options. Sealed bids, clearly labeled “SCHOOL BUS TRANSPORTATION” and “ATHLETIC AND EXTRACURRICULAR TRANSPORTATION” on the outside of the envelope, will be received at the Office of the Superintendent of Schools, 53 Parkerville Road, Southborough, Massachusetts 01772 on or before 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at which time the bids will be opened and publicly read aloud. Those with questions regarding bids or services should address them with the Superintendent by February 9th.

If you people want to save a bundle of money on bus contracts, put yourselves in charge rather than the kids riding the buses and/or their parents. In a neighborhood such as Cedar Hill, Wesson Estates, along Brigham Street, Hudson Street etc., there should be only “collective stops” where groups of kids get on the bus. Buses should not have to stop at every driveway in town. This is a dangerous and unnecessary practice that should be stopped. This would probably get you a better price and would surely be better for the equipment.
Don’t think about it, DO IT!!
