Cell Tower Citizen's Petition

by Kim

Those of you who have been reading NorthboroNews for a while now know there have been cell tower applications on the table recently, and all of them have had setback issues due to proximity to a school, residence, or existing tower, requiring bylaw overrides from the ZBA or Planning Board. This has given rise to a citizens’ petition asking for a moratorium on further tower application approvals in order to allow time for bylaws to be reconsidered by the Planning Board.

Would you support a change in the bylaws that would increase the cell tower setback from residential property lines from 500’ to a 1000’?

The bylaws regarding cell towers (WCFs) can be overidden by either the ZBA or the Planning Board.  What restrictions would you like to see be enforced fully?  See Prior Post on topic for a summary of bylaws or read them in detail on the town website.

What bylaws for cell towers should not be override-able, or what should be added to the bylaw? (Chose all of the answers you agree with, multiple answer can be selected)

The Planning Board will be holding a public hearing on March 30th, at 7pm to hear public comments regarding a moratorium. The moratorium is not to preclude towers needed for emergency services (police and fire).
