Those of you who have been reading NorthboroNews for a while now know there have been cell tower applications on the table recently, and all of them have had setback issues due to proximity to a school, residence, or existing tower, requiring bylaw overrides from the ZBA or Planning Board. This has given rise to a citizens’ petition asking for a moratorium on further tower application approvals in order to allow time for bylaws to be reconsidered by the Planning Board.

Loading ...The Planning Board will be holding a public hearing on March 30th, at 7pm to hear public comments regarding a moratorium. The moratorium is not to preclude towers needed for emergency services (police and fire).

The citizen applicants are asking for a review of the bylaws and hoping the review would bring tighter bylaws through increases of setbacks to residential properties and a more defensible bylaw thus allowing fewer overrides.
