The Young People of First Parish Church, Unitarian Universalist in Northborough will hold a bike drive on Saturday March 27 from 10:00 to 3:30 PM behind the church, located at 40 Church Street, Northborough. They will be accepting donations of used bicycles (please, no rusted hulks) to be donated to “Bikes Not Bombs” (“BNB”), a Boston organization that has both a local and global connection. BNB teaches disadvantaged youth in Boston how to repair bikes and gives them the opportunity to earn a bike that they themselves have fixed. The non-profit organization also ships bikes to Central America and Africa where local shops repair the bikes before they are given to folks as transportation to school or work.
BNB has sent over 37,000 bikes to Central America, the Caribbean and Africa and New Orleans in the last 24 years.
We are asking, where it is possible, for a $10 donation with each bike to assist BNB with costs.
