Looking for a place to respectfully retire your aged American Flags?

Matt Pfannenstiel of  Boy Scout Troop 101 is working on his Eagle Scout project with the American Legion as the sponsoring organization. He is building and distributing five boxes which will be placed in locations around the town of Northborough for its citizens to bring their aged American flags for proper disposal.  The boxes will be in place by June 1st so there will plenty of time to collect flags by Flag Day June 14th. These locations include: Town Hall, Post Office, American Legion, and the Senior Center.

The boxes are permanent, wooden structures and are decorated as if an American flag is wrapped around it. The boxes are 34” tall including four 6” legs for mopping underneath.  The boxes are also 12” X 12” with a hole on top for people to put the flags in.  There will be a fastened lid . When the bins are full the American Legion Post 234 will retrieve and store the old flags.  The annual flag retiring ceremony is scheduled for Flag Day, hosted by the American Legion and assisted by the Boy Scouts of America.
