Car Show to be held on the rain date 6/20

The United Brethren Masonic Lodge in Marlborough and the Push Rods Car Club of Waltham, will host the 2nd Annual Marlborough Main Street Car Show downtown, from 10am-3pm. (on the Rain date June 20).

The entire family will enjoy this fun filled event, part of the Marlborough 350th anniversary celebration. The day will feature live music, DJ trivia contest, raffle, hot dogs, ice cream, Hot Wheels racing for the kids, detailing demos, and sports car displays from Dodge and Nissan. Herbie the Love Bug will be on hand for celebrity photos.

The first Main Street car show in 2009 was such a success, attracting more than 120 cars and 1000 spectators, that Mayor Nancy Stevens and Chamber of Commerce President Susanne Leeber urged the Masons to expand the Main Street show area for 2010. This year space will be doubled, with the street closed to traffic between Newton and Bolton from 10am to 3pm.

“We’re proud to again host, with the Push Rods club, this terrific event for the city and hope that the families will come down and, see some amazing cars and enjoy a great day with us in downtown Marlborough,” says Bob Archibald, master of United Brethren Lodge. Archibald will have his own 1957 Thunderbird at the show.

Adds Jim Grillo of the Push Rods, “We’re going to see outstanding cars of all types, and historic Main Street is a unique venue that really distinguishes this show from the rest.”

The show received support from local businesses which have sponsored generously to defray costs and enable the Masons to donate proceeds to its Angel Fund, which helps pay for clothes and supplies for needy children in Marlborough public schools, and to Massachusetts Shriners hospitals.

Show car owners interested in participating may register starting at 9:00AM at Main Street and Newton Streets for a $10 suggested donation. (Spectators are free.) The first 200 cars will receive a unique commemorative dash plaque.  Pre-1974 cars will be parked on a first come basis on Main Street, with additional areas designated for newer Corvettes, Mustangs & modified imports and exotics. There will also be a display of dragsters and funny cars. Though there will be no professional judging, more than a dozen honorary trophies will be awarded, including Peoples’ Choice.
