“Hats Off Barber Shop located in the Northborough Times Square Plaza, 299 West Main Street contributed to the traditional Northborough MudCats hair bleaching before they make their annual trek to Cooperstown Dreams Park in Cooperstown, NY where they participate in a week long baseball tournament for boys and girls 12 and under. In what has become an annual tradition, the MudCats bleach their hair blonde, and many accent the look with ‘Mohawk’ cuts.
This is the sixth year the Northborough MudCats have traveled to Cooperstown for the tournament, which will take place from August 6 – August 13. “The MudCats teams are selected each October, and the preparations, paperwork, fundraising and practice occur over a ten month period, culminating in our convoy to Cooperstown,” said assistant coach John Macchi. “The annual hair bleaching event is the last big milestone and really helps to pump up the excitement and bring the kids together. We are so grateful to Deb and Greg from Hats Off for their willingness to cut and dye the hair of most of the players and many siblings.” The team is lead by Head Coach Howie Rosen, with the added coaching talents of Coach Joe Grasso, Coach Kevin O’Connell, Coach Xavier Reilly and Coach Macchi. Please follow the team at the Cooperstown website, (http://www.cooperstowndreamspark.com).”
Go MudCats!

Things were so busy at Hats Off when I went over to take the photos yesterday we were unable to get several team members in the group pic: Mike T., Charles G., Luke B., Hannah H., Collin M., and Matt R I offered Coach Macchi my services as team photographer in Cooperstown (wouldn’t that be fun!) but, alas, day jobs intrude….
I’m sure all Northborough wishes the team — and their parents who may go sleepless — best of luck. And thanks Deb and Greg for pitching in.
Love them MudCats !
Congrat’s to the kids ! I am sure there was a lot of baseball fun to be had !
