Saturday, August 14, 8-10PM Stargazing at Fruitlands, Night Sky Observations  lead by Amateur Telescope Makers of Boston (ATMOB) Free to the public
The sumer sky is full of amazing sights. Join us for this unusual opportunity to learn about the heavens around us. Visit www.skymaps.com to download an August skymap for a list of possible celestial events. Bring chairs, blankets, insect repellent and a flash light. We’ll help you cover it with red cellophane so you can preserve your “night vision.

Wednesday, August 18, 7PM, Sundown Concert Series The Love Dogs, 50s music with a 21st century twist! Admission per carload: Members, $12; nonmembers, $15 Rain date, Thursday, August 19 Kick off your flip flops and dance to The Love Dogs 50s-style, high energy blues, R&B, funk, jazz and more than a touch of brass.

Sunday, August 22, Alcott Family Picnic, noon-2PM (rain date, Sunday 8/28) Free to Members or with Museum Full admission Enjoy a picnic at Fruitlands with a 19th century flair. We’ll explore the foods, games and activities just as the Alcott’s might have experienced when they were here in 1843. Bring your own family picnic and blanket. We’ll provide lemonade and dessert. Play graces (a 19th century hoop toss) and croquet with the Fruitlands staff who will be dressed in 19th century costumes.

Cold plunges, odd dietary restrictions and limited wardrobe choices are just a few of the quirky demands made of young Louisa May Alcott and her siblings. Sally Gardner and Karen Omahen will lead a hands-on group experience relating Louisa’s unique childhood trials and tribulations at Fruitlands Farmhouse.
