This afternoon at approximately 1:30 p.m., a local resident came to the police station with an envelope that he believed might contain a suspicious substance. The envelope was immediately removed from the building. The State Fire Marshall’s Office responded with the appropriate equipment to test the substance, and found that it was not hazardous and appeared to be chalk. The substance will be transported to the State Lab for further analysis. Our investigation will continue. There were no injuries.
