Notes from April 11th’s meeting:
Town Warrant Books are now available at the Town Clerk’s Office, Library, and on the Town website. Town Budget Books are available for viewing at Town Clerk’s office, Library, and Town Administator’s office. (FY2011 Town Budget is planned at a 1.6% increase over FY2010.)
Much of the discussion last night was in preparation of town meeting, giving public hearing time to the various articles to be addressed.
State Senator Harriet Chandler, State Representative Harold Naughton, Jr. and State Senator James Eldridge all attended the Board of Selectmen’s meeting yesterday.
The Friends of the Northborough Dog Park, formerly known as PWPWP, presented to the Board of Selectmen last night to continue advocacy to build an off leash dog park. The group formed in July of 2008 has the support of 150 dog owners in town to date.
The Selectmens’ meeting last night covered topics: Tom’s, property tax, the wind study grant, PAYT, and a H1N1 clinic announcement.
Joe Seely, owner of Tom’s Eatin’ and Drinkin’ Place, came before the board to discuss the status of his business, which open this April and was closed in September. The decision before the board was whether the liquor license (due to expire at the end of this month) should be renewed.
John Coderre, Town Administrator, provided the Comprehensive Financial Policy to the board for acceptance. The document is a living document aimed at providing transparency into the procedures which govern financial accounting, budget and monetary matters.
June Hubbard-Ward, Tax Collector, spoke on the re-valuation process currently underway. Property values are in the hands of state pending approval. [...]
