Local January unemployment numbers won’t be published until March, nationwide unemployment rates per the US Department of Labor showed some improvement, moving from 10% in December to 9.7% in January 2010.
Locally December unemployment was 7.9%

Northborough’s November unemployment rate continues to show some improvement with rates dropping to 7.1% from 7.4%. September’s 8.4% was the highest rate in the last 20 years.
