The 165-foot tower, stabilized by steel guy cables affixed to concrete anchors, will gather wind, air temperature, and pressure [...]  If you’ve been up to Ball Hill maybe you noticed the new Met (meteorological) Tower. This tower will be measuring the winds for the next year to see if a wind turbine within a mile or 2, would be feasible. The official ribbon cutting will be August 5th. Prior post on the subject, and another post [...] The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (CEC) today (1/13) announced grants supporting 20 new wind energy projects under the Commonwealth Wind Community-Scale Wind initiative. Among the awardees is the Town of Northborough in Worcester County. A total of 34 proposals was received. In the Board of Selectman’s meeting on 8/17th, the wind committee asked for authorization to pursue a state grant to fund the study of feasibility of a turbine on Tougas Farm. The grant would fund the hiring of a consultant to erect a temporary wind monitoring structure, monitoring wind velocity for one year, analyzing [...] State Senator Harriette Chandler was in town today (7/30) to meet with two members of the Wind Committee, Robert Giles and Richard Jones.
